Who's hiding behind the mask?
Rebecka Liljeberg in another Catti Edfeldt cameo, shot in 2002 All volunteers one step forward! Rebecka Liljeberg in a new role! Unfortunately this is late information, since her appearance in the TV series Vera med flera (Vera and others) has already been aired on Swedish television this spring. She has just a small role, playing a girl with the same name as herself, seen only for a few seconds in a theatre act. The youth series, made directly for TV by Catti Edfeldt (Eva & Adam), is also released on DVD. Here are some pictures from it, captured by Ole of oebfa.com. Click on the http://www.scangen.se/images/rebecka to get a larger view. Ole will most likely be able to help you get the DVD.

Happy birthday Harry Teodor! One year ago today Rebecka gave birth to her firstborn child. Greetings and all the best wishes of course also to Alexander and Rebecka!

Bear's Kiss may get cinema release in Germany in October, Kathrine Bergmann of Pandora Film says. Thanks to Peter for this information. There is still no news of any release (of any kind) in Rebecka's home country Sweden. This is very strange, to say the least.

Meanwhile, the film has already been shown on TV... Australian cable channel Showtime picked it up and aired it recently. If you read this and live in Australia, sad to say, but it is not on their schedule any longer.

There is even a legal VideoCD with the film in DivX (MPEG4) available. You can place your order at Rushall, Amalgama, CTB or oebdvd.tk.

Oksana Akinshina - best lead actress in Swedish film 2002
Lukas Moodysson receives his Guldbagge från Sten Ljunggren More success for Lukas Moodysson and Lilja 4-ever!

Yesterday the annual Swedish Film Awards took place in Stockholm, and, as most of us had expected, it became a huge success for Lilja 4-ever. The film won in 5 out of the 6 categories where it was nominated: Best Film, Best Director (Lukas Moodysson), Best Script (Lukas Moodysson), Best Lead Actress (Oksana Akinshina) and Best Photo (Ulf Brantås).

The story (in Swedish): Aftonbladet | Svenska Dagbladet | Expressen
Not that good news however regarding Bear's Kiss. The theatre release in Spain and France have been pulled back, and no new dates have been set. Thanks to Anne for the clarification.

Can you spot this girl?
Who is this girl?
Re-runs of the Eva & Adam TV series are currently underway in both Germany and Sweden. For details, visit the websites of KIKA and SVT. In the first season of this series one very familiar actress makes a guest appearance! Can you spot her? As a hint, look really carefully in the sixth episode when the theatre scene starts. Here are some more screenshots to help you spot this elusive girl!

I have been informed of theatre release for Bear's Kiss in some countries. The film will open in Switzerland 23 January, Spain 30 January and in France 26 March. Still nothing on possible release in Sweden, from what I hear from my Memfis Film contact. Some of us had also hoped the film would be shown at the Gothenburg Film Festival, but that was not to happen unfortunately. If you live in Thailand however, you will be able to see Bear's Kiss at the Bangkok Film Festival. Screenings will be 17 January at 18:30 and 18 January at 11:00 local time. If it is the same film... The cast presented makes you wonder! Thanks to all contributors, none mentioned, none forgotten.

HAPPY
NEW
YEAR!
Surprising news arrive from Russia! Less than two months after the premiere in the theatres, Bear's Kiss is released on DVD and VHS. This is early by any standard, and one can only speculate about the reason for it.

The DVD (PAL/no regional encoding, dubbed in Russian, no subtitles) was released by Premier Digital on Christmas Eve, December 24. You can order your copy from RBC Online (US based) or, if you live in Russia, from RusHall. Also, Ole in Norway will soon have it in stock and you can place your order at oebdvd.tk. Thanks to Nikolay and Ole for the news.

The official trailer for Bear's Kiss is now available. Check out the streaming video at the Fortissimo site, or click here to watch it instantly in your Media Player. No question about who the star of the film is, even though Sergei Bodrov do get some attention also!

T.a.t.u. - All the things she said

Yulia and Lena making out :) Did you know that Russian super pop duo Tatu are inspired by Fucking Åmål? Well, with the lesbian image and on-stage kissing act it's not a big surprise that Agnes and Elin would be great role models for Yulia and Lena! The girls actually have a song entitled Show Me Love on their new album, and they are said to have been very happy when Lukas Moodysson included Nas ne dagoniat on the Lilja 4-ever soundtrack. These songs and of course the mega hit All the things she said are on the album 200 km/h in the wrong lane that was released here in Sweden a month ago.

Sergei Bodrov jr and gorgeous Rebecka Liljeberg

15 Nov 2002One of the cooler pictures of Rebecka Over a month and no update! Not much news around about Rebecka or the film Bear's Kiss, I'm afraid. I guess Rebecka is enjoying her time with little Teodor, soon five months old, and doesn't have any immediate plans for new film engagements. She also has her studies to think about. With so many areas of interest it must be difficult to choose university courses. Will it be medicine or something else?

There are actually some small things to say about Bear's Kiss. Fortissimo now has information about distributors in a few countries: A-Films (The Netherlands), Cineart (Belgium, Luxemburg), Gaga Communications (Japan), Golden Scene (Hong Kong), Prooptiki S.A. (Greece) and Shapira Films (Israel). The previously set release date in Switzerland by Pathé Films has been taken back, and will be announced at a later date. Pathé also distributes Lilja 4-ever, which will open February 20 in the Alp country.

Regarding festivals, Bear's Kiss will compete in the World Cinema section in Pusan, South Korea, 14 - 23 November. It is shown tomorrow (November 16) in the MegaBox5 theatre at 20:00 and on November 21 in the Busan1 theatre at 20:00 (local time). The film was also screened at the MIFED market 4 - 7 november. The reported (by Fortissimo and by me) participation in the Haifa Film Festival has however not been confirmed from the official Haifa site.

Congratulations to my friend Peter and his Bear's Kiss site for becoming official website for the film! Yes, it's true. Check out the link from Fortissimo's site. Cool! This must give you a lot of money, right, Peter?

Off-topic as it is, but I must also mention that Lukas Moodysson's Lilja 4-ever will be the Swedish nominee for the Academy Awards prize for best foreign-language film! Let's keep all fingers crossed that it will make it into the final four (or is it five) contestants. Also something to look forward to for people able to watch Swedish SVT1 is Filmkrönikan in two weeks time on September 28 at 21:30. The program moves to London and follows Moodysson as Lilja 4-ever makes it grand premiere in Great Britain at the London Film Festival!

The screening of Bear's Kiss in Hamburg on September 28 became an emotional event with Sergei Bodrov addressing the festival audience with a speech in memory of his son, tragically killed in the glacier slide in the Caucasus. The film goes on to be shown at the film festivals in Haifa, Israel, in October and Pusan, South Korea, in November (source Fortissimo). Releases in the cinemas around Europe are still an uncertain issue. Following Italy and Russia (November), only Switzerland is yet confirmed. No distributor is yet assigned in Sweden, but Sonet or Sandrew/Metronome would be the likely choices, according to Memfis Film.
Please also note that Delphi Film-Verleih is not distributor in Germany, as stated in the news on September 26. Incorrect information was given on the German Cinema website at the time.

The Internet Movie Database has a recently updated biography of Rebecka Liljeberg, written by an anonymous person (not this webmaster!).
Rebecka talks about how it was working with so many different languages Rebecka pondering...
These pictures were taken during a session with the public in Venice. There is also a video of this event available as a MPEG4 clip at www.rebecca-liljeberg.com or as a direct link here. Many thanks to Xooobaa from Italy for the pictures and the video.

Lilja 4-ever is conquering the world and receives excellent reviews wherever it is shown! It premiered in Norway last Friday (September 20) and will open in Denmark and Finland tomorrow September 27. Other countries will soon follow. The festival in Vancouver, Canada, also shows it three times the coming days: tomorrow Friday September 27 1:00 pm in the Granville 7 Cinema 7, Sunday September 29 9:30 pm in the Visa Screening Room at the Vogue, and finally Friday October 4 3:00 pm in the Granville 7 Cinema 3.

Rumours say it may even change into a Moodysson site.

The Venice film festival showing and world premiere of Bear's Kiss took place yesterday at Lido, and was followed by a press conference, interviews with director and actors, and a photocall session. In the picture we see the team posing for the cameras. Surrounding director Sergei Bodrov are, from left to right, the actors Maurizio Donadoni, Silvio Orlando, Ariadna Gil, Rebecka Liljeberg, Joachim Król and Keith Allen.

Rebecka Liljeberg outside her Venice hotel - photo: Svenska Dagbladet The official festival site has streaming videos of the photocall and the "catwalk" later the same day. RaiSat has videos of the press conferences. The official photos are taken by Photomovie, and a few of the shots of the people of Bear's Kiss can be found on their site.

The film got a mixed reception by the critics. It is a sweet and quite entertaining film, but lacks the artistic qualities that would make it a hot contender for the Golden Lion prize, one critic said. It is also much more conventional than many other contributions. The performance of the actors were however praised and especially the performance by Rebecka Liljeberg as Lola.
Reviews:

There were also other news that would interest visitors of rebeckaliljeberg.tk. Rebecka came to Venice with her two months old son Teodor and her boyfriend since one and a half year, web designer and artist Alexander Skepp. She now has a busy schedule in Venice giving interviews, but will then return to her maternal leave and hope in a year to resume her studies with the goal to become a medical doctor. She has no plans to pursue an acting career, but, as she put it, "anything can happen" and "if a director would call...". The door is not shut for future films. Even a project with Lukas Moodysson is not out of the question, from what it appeared when the two reunited in front of the press yesterday. She also made clear that having a small child is no obstacle for taking a role in a future film. "The film companies always arrange so the children can come along to the shootings", she says.

Misha was hard to handle, both as a bear and a man...Cuddling with the bears was not the funniest part of the film, Rebecka says. Luckily the trainers were present all of the time. Even harder were the nude love scenes with Sergei Bodrov jr. "It was very difficult to be relaxed, it is a very uncomfortable situation to be naked with another person", she says. In all fairness, the director and the photographer also had to be naked! Director Sergei Bodrov has described the film as "a very emotional and erotic love story".

This was a summary of several interviews and articles:
Svenska Dagbladet (interview with Rebecka by Karoline Eriksson) | Aftonbladet (interview with Lukas and Rebecka) | TT Spektra

Peter has translated these articles into English on his Bear's Kiss site. The videos of the photocall and the catwalk are available for download at www2.megamars.org.

29 Aug 2002 The Golden Lion Tonight at 7.30 pm in the Sala Grande, the 59th Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica - the Film Biennale of Venice - will be opened by Director Moritz de Hadeln and Biennale President Franco Bernabè. The screening of Julie Taymor's Frida will follow.

Sergei Bodrov jr and Rebecka LiljebergSeptember 4 at 6.30 pm in Sala Grande the world premiere of Bear's Kiss will take place.

The screening of Bear's Kiss in Toronto will be September 13 at 6.15 pm and September 14 at 8.45 am (for the early birds).

Details about the cinema releases around Europe are beginning to turn up. So far it is said the film may open already in September in Italy (not yet confirmed). More trustworthy is the information about release in Russia in the middle of November, and in Switzerland a release date of January 23 2003 has been set by the distributor Monopole Pathé Films AG.

Lilja 4-ever soundtrack

Lilja 4-ever soundtrack out now - buy it on CDON (ships to Scandinavia and the Netherlands)

Newsflash! Bear's Kiss and Lilja 4-ever both are among the films to be shown at the Toronto Film Festival between September 5 and 14. This means Bear's Kiss will follow up the world premiere in Venice on September 4 immediately with the Toronto festival, where it enters in the Contempory World Cinema programme. Lilja 4-ever enters in the Visions programme.

Lukas Moodysson - director Lilja 4-ever - photo AftonbladetIn Sweden the premiere of Lilja 4-ever now on Friday August 23 is getting closer. The film has already been shown to the press and the reactions are unanimously very positive! Evidently it is a strong and also very dark film about the life of a teenage girl somewhere in former Soviet Union with dreams of a better life in west, dreams that brutally come to shame as she is forced by her "boyfriend" to work as a prostitute in Sweden. In the interviews Lukas Moodysson says he wants to open people's eyes for this degrading traffic so often ignored. He says he wish the film to be seen by the young girl in Moldavia before she accepts that offer to come to the west, and that she then will have the strength to turn it down. You can download the trailer here, recorded by Ole in Norway from Swedish TV3 (in MPEG4, 3340 kB).

21 Jul 2002 Now we learn that also Lukas Moodysson's new film Lilja 4-ever will be in competition in Venice! Still not officially confirmed, we have to wait for the press conference in Rome July 23 (changed to July 30), but according to the news agency TT Spektra it is clear that Lilja 4-ever will be the first Swedish film for many years to compete in this prestigous festival.

12 Jul 2002Systrar (Sisters) Newsflash! Bear's Kiss will be in competition in Venice! Pandora Film has now confirmed this. I will return with more details later.

The July issue of the French film magazine Studio has a small interview with Sergei Bodrov sr, the director of Bear's Kiss. It deals mainly with a film of his from six years back that is finally getting its French theatre release, but the participation in Venice is also mentioned. Thanks to Anne for the information.

Today Systrar (Sisters) has its Swedish premiere. This is a film by Sergei Bodrov jr (Bear's Kiss) with Oksana Akinshina (Lilja 4-ever) and Katya Gorina as two sisters caught up in a kidnapping drama. It gets a good review in today's Svenska Dagbladet (4 marks out of 6). Distribution by Folkets Bio.

2002-06-27 It's two months until the release of Bear's Kiss. How about a preview of one the scenes? :-) Picture yourself a camp fire late at night. An old woman speaking a strange language is sitting by the fire together with Lola (Rebecka Liljeberg) and Misha (Sergei Bodrov jr), the boy transformed from a bear. Lola translates to him what the woman is saying: She says you are a shapeshifter. You're changing from two worlds. Soon you will be able to see the scene!

T Rex - featuring the voice of Rebecka Liljeberg More Rebecka news! The Swedish-dubbed version of T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous features Rebecka Liljeberg as the voice of Ally. The Bear's Kiss soundtrack will include local music from most of the countries involved. The team recorded much of it in Georgia (in former Soviet Union, not USA). The sad Malagueña (flamenco from Malaga) was however recorded in Jerez in Spain (where part of the film also was shot) and sung by a 22 year old girl called Rocío Fernández from a gypsy background, and only accompanied by a single guitar. Rocío participated in the Jerez festival in March 2002. I hope to return to the soundtrack when I learn some more. For instance, there is also said to be an Icelandic connection to the soundtrack.

Bears Kiss: Joachim Krol (as Groppo) and Anne-Marie Pisani (as singer Margarita)The Italian distributor for Bear's Kiss is Instituto Luce and we can expect to find information about release dates, pictures and things concerning the Venice festival at their site. For the moment there is a synopsis in Italian and the very nice promo of Rebecka you also can see in my June 14 news.
In a German newspaper interview, Moritz de Hadeln, the new director of the Venice Film festival and previously head of the Berlin festival for 20 years, said that he wanted more films from Germany, providing that the quality was good enough. He also mentioned that good films from Germany had already been submitted. Thanks to Anne for this information.

During the shooting in Uddevalla in June last year, Johan Bergström made a feature about the film in the Swedish radio program Klippt och skuret. This piece, including interviews with director Sergei Bodrov and actor Maurizio Donadoni, was aired August 16 on channel P1. I recorded the program in Real Audio and now Peter of the unofficial Bear's Kiss site has made these files as well as transcripts both in Swedish and English available for you.

2002-06-14I have received some fresh Bear's Kiss information. Two days ago my contact spoke to director Sergei Bodrov. The film is now ready, and Sergei says everybody is very pleased with it. He also mentioned the soundtrack CD, which he thinks is great. At least some of the songs were recorded earlier this year in Spain and include a Flamenco (Malagueña), which is fantastic!

The premiere may be at the festival in Venice early September, but that is not yet settled. The release in other countries might take a few more months.

Lola (Rebecka Liljeberg) - from the Tamtamcinema websiteThe official promotion pictures from the shooting were taken by photographer Bernd Spauke. Bernd tells me he will put many of these moviestills on his website in about two months. It will be photos of Rebecka, Joachim Krol, Sergei Bodrov, Keith Allen and of the bear. 2002-06-06As Fucking Åmål is shown in more and more countries on television, new fans discover the acting of Rebecka Liljeberg. Two new fansites have popped up, one Slovenian site at http://users.volja.net/agnes/ and Sydney's Dutch site at http://www.fucking-amal.ch.vu/. Both very nice sites.
2002-05-20Oksana Akinshina, Artiom Bogucharskij and Lukas Moodysson - Photo: Expressen An update on Lukas Moodysson: his new film Lilja 4-ever will be released August 23 in Sweden, it is of course produced by Memfis Film and the distributor is Sonet Film. Not much has been revealed about the story, but it is about two Russian teenagers called Lilja and Volodja, and a theme in the film is religion and God. Basic facts are given by Sonet and in the IMDB.

An interview with Lukas can be found in the latest issue of Månadsjournalen. It is not on the web, but apparantly he is talking about his new film as well as his latest book Vad gör jag här? (What am I doing here?). More on Lukas as a writer in the Books section.

More Fucking Åmål (Show Me Love) on TV: between May 24 and June 29 there are several opportunities to see the film on US channel HBO. Danish DR2 is showing the film on Sunday May 26 at 20:25. In the Netherlands, the NED3 channel will air the film on May 30 at 20:30. As always, check your local listings.
2002-05-13Finally some Bear's Kiss news! Sources involved in the production say the film is scheduled for the Venice film festival between August 29 and September 8 this year. It will hit the cinemas in several European countries during the fall.
2002-05-13*** Happy birthday! 21 today. ***
2002-04-24Talk about disappointment. No Bear's Kiss and no Rebecka Liljeberg in Cannes! I guess the answer to one of the questions I wrote on April 16 is NO. I will try to dig up some information about what the problem is.
Anyway, even if the film had been selected for the festival, it would have been unlikely that Rebecka had participated. She has publicly stated that she never would return to Cannes! That was in her own article after the 1999 festival, which didn't make a very good impression on her... You find the link to the article in yesterday's news item.

2002-04-23Italian TV channel Rai 2 is airing Fucking Åmål on Saturday May 4. Check your newspaper for the time. Thanks to Laura for this information.

Ole in Norway has collected some articles and texts written by Rebecka Liljeberg. Most of them have been published in the daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet between 1999 and 2001. Your webmaster has helped finding the articles and also ventured the delicate task of translating the words of Rebecka into English. I hope she is not too mad at me. ;) Check out Ole's news page at oebfa.com or go directly to the articles!

Claire will not go to Cannes
Just eight days to go! April 24 the lineup for this year's Cannes festival will be announced. Will Bear's Kiss be one of the contestants? Is it good enough? Is it even finished? Is Sergei Bodrov pleased enough with it? Questions and more questions.

One disappointment so far for Scandinavian film is that Thomas Vinterberg's It's all about love starring wonderful Claire Danes (My So-Called Life) will not take part. This Danish film was supposed to be the big Scandinavian hope this year... but that was not to be.

Finally a new Fucking Åmål website to announce. Check out www.pmlubov.narod.ru. It's all in Russian so I can't really give an opinion about it. Thanks to Alex Smirnov for telling me about his site.
2002-04-09Fucking Åmål is being shown on Film Four channel in the UK at 20:20 on Friday April 12. Thanks to Jason for the information.
Lukas joking with the girls - from the opening back in 1998Meanwhile, back in Sweden, the film is now seen as a turning point for domestic as well as European film. Now only 62% of the films seen on cinemas in Sweden are Hollywood productions, compared to 75% before FÅ. You can read more of this story in yesterday's Svenska Dagbladet, if you handle Swedish, that is. If not, you can always have a look at the nice photo of our three heroes that followed with the article.
2002-04-05Tomorrow, Saturday April 6 at 23:15, Norwegian TV channel NRK1 is showing Fucking Åmål.
Also Slovak STV1 will air the film on Tuesday April 9 at 22:30. Welcome all new fans!

Rebecka last winter - picture from the UR website
About a year ago Rebecka Liljeberg gave an interview with the educational radio network Utbildningsradion (UR). Cool and relaxed she talks about her school experiences and plans for the future. Of course her career as actress also receives a lot of attention. Peter managed to get a copy of the interview and you can now find his transcript and translation on his Bear's Kiss website. You can also download Real Audio files and listen to the interview.
Talking about this site, don't miss the interesting article First position please! with the story of an actual close encounter with Rebecka!
2002-02-27While Rebecka is enjoying a timely break in media attention, here is some news about Alexandra Dahlström! She is making an appearance on the new CD by Swedish pop ensemble The Bear Quartet. Alexandra is reciting a text in an otherwise instrumental piece called Tuna. The title of the album is Ny våg.
Picked up on Swedish radio (Musikjournalen) by Peter.
2002-02-25The release date of Bear's Kiss is still uncertain. Contacts in the German production company Pandora Film have given Sebastian in Germany diverging information ranging from spring to summer 2002. We just have to wait and see. From Sebastian's online forum.
2002-02-25Fucking Åmål will be shown on Slovenian TV channel Slovenja 1 this Wednesday Feb 27 at 20:00 (8 PM). It will be the original Swedish version with subtitles. Thanks to fairy for the information.
2002-02-10Rebecka in NärkontaktThe short movie Närkontakt (Close Encounter) (1997) is now available in DivX with English subtitles. Nina (Rebecka Liljeberg) is living with her father (Samuel Fröler), but they don't connect. It takes a dramatic event for them to find each other. In this nice little story Rebecka with her impressive acting paved the way for her part in Show Me Love. You can download it in the Media Gallery at showmelove.cjb.net.
2002-02-10Fucking Åmål (Show Me Love) is showing on American TV channel HBO between Feb 11 and 26. Check the link for details. Thanks to Angel and Ole for the information.

2002-01-31This Saturday, February 2, people in Sweden will have the opportunity to see Russian director Sergei Bodrov's Oscar-nominated Prisoner of the mountains (Kavkazskij plennik, in Sweden Bergens fånge) from 1996 on SVT2 at 21:15, as an appetizer of his forthcoming Bear's Kiss.
A group of Russian soldiers is ambushed in the Kaukasian mountains, and the only survivors, sergeant Sacha and private Vanya, are taken captives. The cast include Oleg Menshikov, Dzhemal Sikharulidze, Susanna Mekhraliyeva and Sergei Bodrov Jr, the director's son, also taking part in Bear's Kiss.
2002-01-29German children's channel KI.KA is again making Rebecka fans happy! They are currently airing both seasons of Eva & Adam, one episode each day at 3:55 PM CET. Watch episode 7 of season 1 with a small cameo by Rebecka today, but her major appearance as Frida, the girlfriend of Eva's brother, will be in episodes 6 through 8 of season 2. Don't miss it. Vielen spaß!

Happy New Year!!
Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to everyone visiting this site! Let's all work for a year with no more senseless violence, hungry children and homeless people. Give something for a good cause this Christmas.Peace

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I wish Rebecka the very very best for 2002. May the new year bring much success and happiness to you, be it awards for Bear's Kiss, be it new film projects or just something else you decide to do. And good luck with the university studies!
Thanks also to all of you keeping this page alive with contributions to People's Voice and the poll. Updates will come whenever there are any news or when I have some new web design trick I wish to test... :)
2001-12-11Photographer Dan Uneken, living in Jerez, Spain, caught some of the action in Bear's Kiss with his camera, while the team shot the final scenes of the film in August. His homepage includes pictures of director Sergei Bodrov, the crew and of course the one and only Rebecka Liljeberg. But what about that red wig... Ouch! :) Thanks to Peter for this link.

 Rebecka in Sherdil
Sherdil (Rebecka Liljeberg and Sebastian Hulthén)The coming days people in Germany and USA will have the opportunity to see two films on TV featuring Rebecka Liljeberg. On Saturday November 24 the German channel KIKA will show Sherdil (1999) at noon 12:00. Rebecka plays Sanna, a school girl who rescues an Arabian stallion from slaughter. Not an exceptional film by any means, but if you like Rebecka or if you like horses it is a must.
Two days later, in the early morning of November 26, the American channel MMAX will air Show Me Love at 4:10 AM. I'm not sure what time zone this is, so check your local program listings. Thanks to Ole in Norway for this information.
2001-11-19BullyBully won the Bronze Horse prize for best film at the Stockholm Film Festival. With "fervent intensity and classic drama" this film by American Larry Clark (Kids) tells the story of young people in a less than flattering way. It is based on an actual event in 1993, when a group of teenagers killed another teen after years of bullying them. Rachel Miner of Bully also won the prize for best female actress. Best male actor became Paul Franklin Dano in L.I.E. Best script went to the Norwegian film Elling.
2001-11-12Between November 8th and 18th the Stockholm International Film Festival takes place. 18 films hope to win the Bronze Horse (Bronshästen) prize for best film. The deciding jury includes among others Rebecka Liljeberg.

 Lukas Moodysson
Lukas Moodysson's new film, called Lilja 4-ever, is currently being shot in Estonia and shooting will continue in Trollhättan, Sweden. Not much is revealed about the story, but two young Russians play the leading characters, 16-year old Lilja (Oksana Akinshina) and 11-year old Vladimir (Artiom Bogucharskij). There will also be Swedish actors, but they are not yet disclosed. Any involvement by Rebecka Liljeberg in this production is pure speculation, but fellow Show Me Love-star Alexandra Dahlström works as Moodysson's assistant as well as interpreter (her mother is Russian). Oksana Akinshina played in Sergei Bodrov jr's film Sisters, which was shown at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals, and since Bodrov himself plays in Bear's Kiss there is a possible connection with Rebecka. But again, pure speculation! :)
2001-11-12Bear's Kiss is scheduled for Cannes 2002 and will hit the cinemas some time mid or late 2002.
